Idaho Statesman: They escaped ‘certain death’ as refugees. Now they study every Sunday to become Idaho doctors
Dr. Ali Makki and his wife, both physicians in Baghdad, fled the country when it became too dangerous for doctors to practice. Ten years ago, they arrived in Idaho. Makki has taken two of the three intensive exams needed to practice medicine n the United States, and is in his second year at the Full Circle Health program in Boise.
